Who/What is worth the price* of a movie theatre ticket?

*Calculating the price:
Don't know about you, but if I go the theatre, I cannot make it to my seat with ignoring the popcorn scented air.

So, I purchase popcorn and, of course, something to wash it down with--god knows popcorn can cause coughing fits on occasion! (Say no to: cell phones, screaming kids, talking, coughing!)

Also, likely, if I am headed to the theater to see this movie, I will buy the DVD the first Tuesday it's out. Whew. The ticket price exploded!

Who or what is worth going to the theatre to see?  Here is my main list of just the actor/actress professionals:
  • Will Smith
  • Leonardo DiCaprio
  • Tom Cruise
  • Kate Winslet
  • Jodie Foster
  • Johnny Depp
  • Morgan Freeman
Those folks seem to have a knack for picking, if not wonderfully written scripts, then a destined to be a blockbuster movie!

Who will you pony up the dough to go see?

Red Velvet Pancakes with Cream Cheese Syrup

Ingredients:
  • 2 cups Red Velvet cake mix (about 1/2 of an 18.25 oz box)
  • 2 large eggs, separated
  • 2 Tbsp oil
  • 1/4 cup + 1 tsp water
  • butter, optional for frying or topping
TIP: Can use a chocolate cake mix with red food dye added (reduce the water amount by the amount of food dye)

Directions:
  • Combine the cake mix, egg yolks, oil and water in a mixing bowl until just thoroughly blended
  • Beat egg whites until they form soft peaks.
  • Blend egg whites into cake mixture.
  • If batter seems too thick, add another tablespoon of water.
  • Cook the pancakes in a non-stick pan over medium heat.
TIP: Cook these a little slower than regular pancakes so they don't brown too much.

Cream Cheese syrup*:
¼ cup of honey
1 heaping Tablespoon Cream cheese
  • Warm honey in microwave until warmed, about 30 seconds then stir in cream cheese until smooth.
  • Whisk, whisk, and whisk until smooth. Add more honey if you like the syrup runny(<--is that a word?)
*Alternate toppings/extras:
  •  Can also just sift powdered sugar on top for a wintry snowflakey look!
  •  Love Reese's cups? Use peanut butter instead of cream cheese in the syrup
  •  Brandied fruits
  •  Pecans on top of cream cheese syrup for crunch!
Enjoy!

Vanilla-Nutmeg French Toast with Peanut Butter Syrup

  • 6 slices of bread (using older bread works best)
  • 4 eggs (or equivalent of egg beaters)
  • ½ cup Fat Free ½ & ½
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
(Salt to taste. ~ ½ teaspoon)
2 T Butter or whatever butter substitute you prefer (I use Smart Balance sticks)

  1. Beat the eggs. Add the FF ½ & ½, nutmeg, vanilla extract and salt. Mix together.
  2. Soak the bread slices in the mixture.
  3. Fry the soaked bread on one side until golden brown in butter, then turn and fry until the other side is golden brown.
TIP: To get an awesome thick layered crust on each side, I spoon on some of the egg mixture and then reflip to cook thus creating a thicker egg crust on each side.
Peanut Butter Syrup:
¼* cup of your preferred syrup like pure maple syrup or normal pancake syrup (I use a sugar free one)
1 heaping Tablespoon peanut butter
*use ½ cup if you prefer a thinner syrup

Warm maple syrup in microwave until warmed, about 30 seconds then stir in peanut butter until smooth. Can top with sliced bananas, coconut, or whatever you like!
